About

“Our society demands that we function, and unlearns how to feel in the process. My art brings the suppressed emotional outburst back into the space of what is allowed.”

About me

Born in the Rhineland and raised in the Black Forest, I worked for many years as a manager in Baden-Württemberg and eventually built up my own company. For decades my daily reality was shaped by permanent success, functionality, efficiency and rational control – anchored in a system that, in the tight corset of economic mechanisms, forgives no mistakes. Emotional outbursts have no place there; in our world they are often reserved for children or for those pushed to the margins of society.

Alongside that thoroughly structured world, painting was always there too. It began as an existential outlet – the only space where the corset of control could be taken off, to give a face to suppressed emotions, fears of failure, tensions and unconscious impulses.

What started as an inner balance, almost a therapeutic companion process, grew over the years into a radical artistic necessity. Today art is my primary medium. My artistic position draws on the intense experience of those decades spent keeping a system running.

My position

At the core of my artistic position is an inquiry into human emotionality. My work moves in the field of tension between systemic order and the emotional liberation of the subconscious. That liberation is far more than a personal loss of control; it reflects the reality of a society caught in professional, familial and value-based corsets.

Out of the tension between order and chaos, control and freedom, reason and emotion, my works open a resonant space for breaking free from society’s principles of function. My painting cracks that systemic rigidity open and makes the repressed feeling visible.

In short: it is the visual deconstruction of control, and it makes visible the universal human longing for an emotionally redeeming freedom.

My working process

Working with abstract layers of colour and texture turns inner emotional states into visual timestamps of feeling. This “unconsciously conscious flow” spontaneously dissolves rational control. Complex emotional layers – unconscious and conscious alike – are mirrored in equally complex layers of colour and form, unconscious and conscious in turn.

Some works follow a clear vision from the very beginning, because the emotion to be freed shows itself right away. Others go through a complex journey of unconscious impulses and conscious interpretations. In these layers of colour and form the true emotion sometimes only reveals itself after many stages – in garish colour spaces, grimacing figures or hidden symbols. In the end the original message eludes the viewer and instead opens up the space for a truth entirely of their own.

Room for new perspectives

A new studio, a new chapter: moving into Waldstraße in Karlsruhe opens up entirely new perspectives and spaces for my art. These wonderfully large, light-flooded rooms are from now on the foundation on which all my new works are made.

For me this studio is both: a sheltered retreat for deep, concentrated work and, at the same time, a lively place of exchange. I see this space as an open platform for dialogue with other artists, art lovers and anyone interested. Here art becomes tangible – from the first brushstroke to the finished work.
